Craig Virani: Radio Shack does sell cell phones without a contract but they do not come cheap. The price you would get is the unactivated price, which will be the same as any store. You should get a refurbished phone from somewhere else because i think they only sell refurbished sprint phones. You could also get a At&T Go Phone and just put your sim card in it. Either Radio Shack or Bes! t Buy sell them. If you try to get it at an AT&T store they will not do it because you shouldn't do that but everybody does it anyways. Also, you might want to check with friends and family - sometimes people just buy a new phone because they like it and stop using the one they had. Helpful to know- all of the cell phone companies work about the same way when it comes to phones. None of them actually make the phones, and they are actually in business to provide the network that allows you to make calls and use the internet or text. They have to buy the phones that they sell, so they sell them to you at a discount, but they are not really in business to sell phones- they sell their network - that's how they make money. For them, the phones are a business expense, not something that brings them a profit. That's why all of them can get you a phone at a really good price or free when you start a contract- you are agree! ing to use their network for a certain length of time which makes the money back that they actually lost when they sold you the phone at a really low price. Unless you have insurance, if the phone gets lost or stolen, or broken, or damaged, a replacement phone from the company will usually cost you full price, or they may offer you a small discount only unless you have completed a certain amount of time in your contract....Show more
