Alisa Kaleiwahea: this is one area you can get very creative with. As a stay at home mom you were top chef, chauffeur, peace negotiator, coordinated scheduled, supervised cleaning crew, ect. You were employed by , whatever your family name is. I put that I am employed by my husband and daughter.

Malcom Bourek: You don't really have to put it on a job app. Rather, it will be apparent that there is a gap between the prior job and the following one. Or, you could actually put it on the app as a job -- "Stay At Home Mom," and list the many responsibilities you had in such a way that they look relevant to a business. ("Managing schedules, household budget," etc.) Or leave it off. You will be asked about it, but there is no reason to sound defensive when you explain this -- it's probably the most common and best reason for a lengthy employment gap. Good luck!...Show more
