Why are people biased towards black authors?

answers1:The Perks of Being a WallflowerThe Truth About ForeverEmpress
of the World
answers2:Taking note of all you listed, I think you'd probably like
Eureka Seven. It has Mechas, Action, Romance, Sci-Fi, Apocalyptic
things, tragedy, etc. It has been dubbed into English if you are
looking for a dubbed anime and its only 50 episodes long. You should
give it a try if you haven't already seen it, you may like it.
answers3:anything by laurie faria stolarz
answers4:well i like suspense, drama, real life issue books, also
romantics are pretty awsome. i dont like science fiction or anything
like that..Thankx :)
answers5:Well that's unfair! That is just the same as people saying
white authors only talk about hooking up, video games, TV, celebs and
trash like that. It's not true...and I have read wonderful,
imaginative books written by African authors!! They are very
talented, spirited and beautiful beings just like everyone else.
answers6:Anything by ellen hopkins would probably be your style.I also
love anything by sarah dessen and the pretty little liars series is
pretty intense as well.
answers7:Hey there is a really good series of books by an author named
Michael Scott. The series is called "The secrets of the immortal
Nicholas Flamel"Book 1 is called "The Alchemist", book2 is called "The
Magician" and the third book is called "The Sorceress". Book four is
not out yet but is titled "The Necromancer". Great books! I have read
all the Harry Potter series, Twilight series, Anne Rice series and
this is just as good!
answers8:Most authors will add thier own life experiences into thier
work. The black community, unfortunealty, was forced into poverty
during 'reconstruction' and most remained and poverty mainly consists
of gangs, drugs and sex; therefore, causing some to write about it.
But I persoally think your teacher is too biased and should teach
lunch hour.
answers9:it depends what genre you like, but you might like these:The

answers10:That's really not fair I know of some good Black Science
Fiction Writers.
answers11:That's very wrong and very stereotypical. I guess blacks
have a bad label, due to some of the things seen with them, and people
aren't able to believe that there are good people who rise beyond the
crowd of misjudgement.help me?

answers12:This occasionally bugs me, and I hope someone can help me
resolve it. I got a book from the book fair in elementary school...
about 97 or 98 I think. I lost it, and cannot seem to find out what it
was.In the book, there is a young girl who has a "Talent" i think
having to do with animals not entirely sure. Different people have
these talents in varying strengths. Somehow she ends up in some guys
mansion/castle. His talent is being able to see someones future when
he touches them with his bare hands. He wears gloves to prevent it. At
some point he touches hers and sees them together, married. There was
also something to do with dragons as well, I think they were
supposedly extinct. But this guy has hatched a few, or something.
Sorry my memory is so vague, I would really appreciate any help anyone
can give....Show more
answers13:I don't care what color an author's skin is as long as they
tell a good story. Good stories can involve sex, drugs, gangs and
violence, but black authors are not the only ones who write about that
stuff.
answers14:Well, I don't think that way. Neither does my English teacher.
answers15:He's ignorant. There are many great black writers; Toni
Morrison, Richard Wright, Ralph Ellison, James Baldwin, Lorraine
Hansberry, Alice Walker, Ernest Gaines to name a few. These are all
literary writers who write about the black experience in a way that
encompasses their total humanity. If he's talking about black writers
who write slick commercial fiction, okay they write in a superficial
and sensational way, but so do all other writers of slick commercial
fiction, regardless of race....Show more
answers16:You may want to look for any series by Clamp. Clamp mangas
have the best illustrations and pretty exciting story lines. Good
luck finding one!
answers17:How young?1. The Chronicles of Narnia (often appeals to
young girls as well as boys because the brilliant writer of this made
the four main characters 2 girls and 2 boys, marketing genius:)2. The
Jungle Books, the original ones by Rudyard, not Disney.3. And of
course... Alice in Wonderland! (see link below)...Show more
answers18:I"m looking for more of a comical kind of manga but one
that has a good plot and that has been thought out. i have read about
all the Naruto i can and i have read all the death note manga so I'm
looking for something a little bit more lighthearted. oh and really
nice art is always a plus!
answers19:Avalon High, the first book to it is a book that is not
comics but the rest are comics and stuff
answers20:The book is called "The Secret of Dragonhome" It was
written by John Peel in 1998.Here's a link to amazon so you can check
it out!http://www.amazon.com/Secret-Dragonhome-John-Peel/...
answers21:i think it could be the "world of the myths"
answers22:I really like the author Jodi Picoult. I'd recommend "My
Sister's Keeper".
answers23:Your teacher is making gross generalizations likely based on
a very small actual sampling. I would be interested in knowing on
which titles your teacher is basing his opinion. As to why he might be
'teaching' antiquated and narrow minded views of black authors, I
would guess he's prejudiced toward blacks in general. He most
definitely has no business spreading his opinions in a classroom
setting and presenting them as if they are proven facts.Being a
teacher does not automatically make a person intelligent, it only
makes them college graduates with a job....Show more
answers24:If you like fantasy/adventure, I have a novel called The
Other Side of the Gate. It's about a boy who is mysteriously spirited
away to a strange world where humans have been taken for generations,
and he's determined to discover why.If that sounds interesting, you
can learn more about the book on my writer's blog listed below.
answers25:Monster is a very good manga. You can read it online. While
the plot is a bit dark, many of the chapters are actually a bit
lighthearted in my opinion and almost all of the characters are
sympathetic.
answers26:read one piece, d.gray man and bleach first (read all the
mainstream ones, its offputting but there's a reason theyre all
popular).one piece seems kind of loserish at first but if you endure
it gets very good, listen to me when i say this!!! i only started
reading it when i ran out of mangas cos it seemed childish but when it
kicks off the plot is deep. there are also genuinely sad moments in
itother very good mangas to check out are ao no exorcist, though there
arent that many chapters as of now, kenichi the world's strongest
disciple (its pretty funny)fairy tail is lighthearted and reasonably
interestingmahou sensei negima ive heard is good, i skipped it because
i dont like really young main characters and it seemed like the main
char was too young for romance to happen with the girlserrm note that
d.gray man is a bit dark (trust me, dont watch the anime) but the
manga can be quite funny and by the time it gets odd later in the
story you'll like it too much to care v. much. d.gray man is also 50%
of the inspiration for my novel...Show more
answers27:take a look at Roll of Thunder, Hear my Cry...or Let the
Circle be Unbroken...people are still racist and probably will be
throughout you're life and it hurts...black authors are just as equal
as white authors so, now to answer your question...people are bias
because they think they are better than the blacks, also, blacks are
the usual to start gangs, may not be true, so your teacher might be
racist...maybe, he/she might have had a bad experience with a black
person and think they are all bad, which they are not...so next time,
don't listen, they think they're better than blacks, but we're all
equal and think what you want...but read some books from black
authors, that's not all they right about...Show more
answers28:Sour grapes and racism in one hit. Well done.
answers29:
answers30:I was never aware that those subjects were ALL that African
American authors wrote =/ Maybe it's just me.On the other hand, there
are other black authors who write their books different from those

answers33:Recently a new genre of writing has emerged called urban
fiction. The initial stories were written by African-American authors
who were living those types of lifestyles. While serving time they
penned their stories and those of their friends. Upon release from
prison these stories were contracted by small press and some by big
publishing firms as the demand increased.--- The novels are filled
with sex, drug abuse, drug dealing, prostitution, rape, young unwed
mothers, gun fights, theft, busts, aids and strippers. It is part of
some African-Americans culture. It is how they grew up. It is a
reality that is now in demand by others from that culture who chose to
read it. --- In the seventies IceBerg Slim was the first to right
about his life on the urban streets. He wrote about drugs, number
runners, gambling, prostitutes and all that. For some he was / is a
prolific influence in bringing those topics to the general
public. However they are a small minority within the African American
diaspora and among their authors. However Q-Boro, Black Pearl, Triple
Crown are companies that thrive under this new genre and though it
isn't my preference I think like with rap music it might have
longevity. Two years ago they were maybe 1% of all books published
in the course of a year now they range in graphic style to cross genre
writing. Some are exceedingly violent, mysogynistic, and crude. Some
are intelligent, fascinating potrayals of urban life. Plenty fall in
the middle. It is simply a matter of preference....Show more
