Are you still a vegetarian if you eat turkey?

Trena Berum: true i know someone who wont eat any meat but who will eat hot dog (but as they say there is no meat in hot dog) ha ha

Marquetta Gimm: I've recently had to cut all dairy products from my diet & I REALLY miss cheese. Is soy cheese at all close to the taste & texture of regular cheese?

Hubert Jestes: No, you aren't. Vegetarians don't eat animal flesh.http://www.vegsoc.org/info/definitions.html

Shaquita Wernicki: I recently did a taste test where I had a slice of soy cheese pizza and a slice of dairy cheese pizza. They tasted nothing alike. The soy cheese seemed to have a lack of flavour and weird light texture. I've had soy cheese pizza years ago that tasted like someone had put vineger on the pizza. However, you can convince yourself that soy cheese tastes like dairy cheese, if you go long enough without eating dairy. However believing something doesn't mean it's true.

Luke Gacusan: As you can see from the number of thumbs down to answe! r #1, the answer is no.Vegetarians do not eat meat, fish, poultry nor slaughter by-products.Some eat eggs, soem dairy, some niether, hence the lacto/ovo designations. but generally speakign they are all called vegetarians.eg: I don't eat dairy, but i would never call myself an ovo-vegetarian, i just call myself a vegetarian and privately watch out for any dairy ingredients as I go.Words like semi/flexi/demi/partial etc are just made up phrases and not really welcomed by vegetarians as they confuse the issue and real definition."FINGER" illustrates the problem perfectly. If you eat turkey, all vegetarians get generalised and insulted....Show more

Lynn Mctier: Sure... eat some turkey!

Lia Argall: dates and pecans together are yummy! mushrooms with pesto + peanuts carrot sticks with hummusraw chocolate (cacao butter, cacao powder + sweetener of choice - its vegan)roasted curry chickpeas (chickpeas rolled in olive oil and curry powder mix-roasted) Delicious! fried t! ofu wrapped in lettuce smoothiesjuicesany dried fruit + nutsna! kd bars are nice too :)...Show more

Wally Perrien: Haha you are only a vegetarian if you eat no meat whatsoever. If you eat turkey you are an omnivore, plain and simple.

Roosevelt Pendill: It really depends upon the brand you buy. The one I use and has been said is really good by people who still eat dairy cheese is made by Follow Your Heart. ; You can see their products at:http://www.followyourheart.com/product-family.php?...This soy cheese works really well to melt and use as Mac and Soy Cheese. It's also good on pizza, but I recommend melting it and pouring it over a cooked pizza just before serving.Another choice is:http://www.galaxyfoods.com/Products/SoyCheese/Vega...A new kind that I have yet to try but they say stretches as dairy cheese does is:http://www.shopwiki.com/Vegan+soy+cheeseIt's not exactly like dairy cheese so don't think it will be the same. It is different but it is good. Just experiment and try different kinds and see what you prefer. I! think you will feel better and realize you are better off not eating the dairy cheese. Just, as I said, realize it does taste a little different so don't think of it as an exact replacement, but it is tasty in it's own right and allow you to make foods you are used to making.Good luck. Hope this helps.

Keven Woodington: I like peanut butter :'- I

Pam Rampadarat: When I first went vegan cheese was the hardest thing to give up. I probably cried a few times it was so hard. But then the longer I went without the easier it was. And then within a few months I didn't want cheese in the slightest. Now it just seems disgusting to me.As for soy cheese, some of them are okay, but it's different with everyone.Try Daiya, it's probably the best soy cheese. Vegan gourmet is pretty good as well. It doesn't taste good cold though, only melted. There are other ways of making cheese yourself as well for different purposes. Such as using nutritional yeast. Good luck!

Eleni! Mccier: No, unless turkeys do are not vegetables, beans, grains or dai! ry. Therefore turkey is not vegetarian

Catheryn Barringer: Just wondering how balanced my diet is... i feel like I;m missing something...Breakfast;One cup multi-grain cheerios w/ 1'2 cup B-12 and omega-3 fortified Silk soymilk Lunch: 1 1/2 cup zucchini sauteed in about 2 tsp olive oil1 cup spinach w/ 1 tsp vinegar1 tbsp peanut butterSnack: 2 small slices of fresh baked, whole grain sourdough bread w/ flax seed and sunflower seeds baked in3 teaspoons peanut butterDinner: 1 cup fresh lentil soup, a medium piece of italian bread (approx 80 calories. sorry, not measured)Dessert: 2 oreos :DI ate well?...Show more

Randall Twehous:

Betsey Muehlbach: these are the only types of vegetarian:lacto vegetarian: no animal flesh, but does consume dairy productsovo vegatarian: no animal flesh, consumes eggslacto-ovo vegetarian: no animal fleshand vegans eat no animal products what so ever. They dont even eat food products that have animal in them (for ex: no honey, no g! elatin, no personal care products that were tested on animals)a pescetarian, etc. are not types of vegetarian. A VEGETARIAN DOES NOT EAT ANIMAL FLESH not even fish, shrimp, chicken, turkey, NOTHING. Look it up in any vegetarian site....Show more

Bo Perham: no

Asa Soho: it is true.... but as far as i am concerend you are not vegetarian if you eat ANY meat. Which means a part of anything living. Milk is not a piece of the animal, it leaves the body but the body is still complete without it.Bottom line... No you are not a vegetarian.

Bianca Lannier: Vegetarian in my books means that you don't eat any meat what so ever.. anything that once had a face on it is meat.Anyone who still eats meat is not a vegetarian!!

Cherlyn Tefera: I looked over what you ate and truthfully I am not worried about the 2 oreos you wanted to have. I think if you want them, no problem.Where I do see the problem is too much bread. With what you ate you got enough Vitamin A, C, so! me b, some iron, some calcium , etc etc.So here is what I would suggest! . Add more complex carbs. Instead of just bread have a Sweet potato or Baked Potato or Rice. In other words if you had bread for lunch , you have a potato instead with dinner . If you boil or bake them the calories are low and nutrition is high. Vary more and you will also get more nutrition since the breads are lacking ( yes I know they are tasty..lol) . Believe it or not the Potato is considered one of the best foods . With breakfast try to have a banana in your cereal or later as a snack and vary that with fresh or frozen berrries .I like peanut butter too , but limit it to once a day not twice ( it is good for you but high in calories )I also would like to know you are using extra virgin olive oil or extra virgin coconut oil only?Do you eat tofu, tempeh , mock meats or soy yogurts ?Overall I think you have a good base as long as you mix it up . Daily have different veggies , asparagus, carrots, lima beans , green beans, collard greens , broccoli etc and add to your c! ooking onion, garlic and spices .The real key is to mix it up .It was proven that you do not need to eat foods in any order, but you need to get enough variety in the entire "week" to meet all your bodies needs,I see you like carbs , so do not make them taboo , but rather pick each day which meal to have the bread . Either breakfast , lunch or dinner . Cherios also not the best choice but if you like them have them say no more then 3 times a week .Oatmeal is a great breakfast with soy milk and fruit .Mix it up on different days.Keep a daily log at first , because one day is not enough to see if you are eating ok . It is much more accurate to see a weekly list. I think with a few changes you will be fine. You are not too far off .Add more fresh veggies as snack they are nutritionally great and very low calorie . A couple of fruits a day is also good . Bananas are great for potassium and helps keep your weight in check . Avocado is a very good fat for your body.Apples are a p! erfect evening snack after dinner .Let us know and your doing well!Vega! n Forever...Show more

Ayesha Genova: You're forgetting the protein in my spinach, the sunflower seeds, and the flax seed in my sourdough bread. I got plenty of protein,

Heidy Fujikake: if you can grow a turkey from a seed in your garden, you can eat it and be a vegetarian.let me ask you this: does it SEEM true to you?

Otto Lingafelt: Veggie Sticks are my favorite. If you go to a place like Whole Foods, there is a large selection of vegan food.(:

Lauri Ohl: LOL...no. turkey is a living ANIMAL, not a plant.Vegetarian=vegetable.plants.there are vegans, who do not eat eggs, cheese or any animal by product.then, there are vegetarians who eat eggs, cheese, milk, yogurt etc., since their vegetarianism is based on morals, such as not killing animals for food. But...since animals are not killed to produce by products, they do not see it as being morally decadent to eat by products.good?...Show more

Vickie Sterbenz: There are actually 5 types of vegetaria! n. One who eats turkey but not red meats is a Pollo-Vegetarian.Pollo - birdsPesco - fish/seafoodLacto - dairy productsOvo - eggsPure - 100% herbivore...Show more

Bob Nakamoto: Soy cheese is made from soy and unprocessed

Ramon Dahlheimer: Katertot, yes they are. They're on PETA's list of "accidentally vegan" foods:Regular Oreos Ingredients:ngredients: SUGAR, ENRICHED FLOUR (WHEAT FLOUR, NIACIN, REDUCED IRON, THIAMINE MONONITRATE {VITAMIN B1}, RIBOFLAVIN {VITAMIN B2}, FOLIC ACID), HIGH OLEIC CANOLA OIL AND/OR PALM OIL AND/OR CANOLA OIL, AND/OR SOYBEAN OIL, COCOA (PROCESSED WITH ALKALI), HIGH FRUCTOSE CORN SYRUP, LEAVENING (BAKING SODA AND/OR CALCIUM PHOSPHATE), CORNSTARCH, SALT, SOY LECITHIN (EMULSIFIER), VANILLIN - AN ARTIFICIAL FLAVOR, CHOCOLATE.The chocolate is non-dairy....Show more

Ollie Desalvo: Oh and i had an apple too

Cassey Hollinghurst: Nothing is truly identical to cheese made from animal milks - but for what they are, they are pretty good.! You don't say why you eliminated dairy fro your diet - but you may stil! l have to read labels on the soy cheese...many of them use milk protein - casein - as a major ingredient.

Darcie Peraha: And by that I mean, what are some tasty vegan snacks?

Garry Ohmen: What's the point in being a vegetarian if you pick and choose between what animals that you want to eat?How is a turkey any more justified than a chicken or cow?I don't understand vegetarians sometimes, if you're opposed to the suffering of animals or the 'negative' attributes of eating them, why then make exceptions for animals that are just as badly off?...Show more

Delmer Pectol: I stopped eating cheese about 4 months ago, and unfortunately nothing has really tasted as good yet. The closest thing that I've found is Rice Dream, a rice based cheese substitute.

Tomi Vauters: Not exactly. Vegetarian, as we commonly say it, usually means ovo-lacto vegetarian, a person who consumes no animal flesh but will eat eggs and dairy products. A pure vegetarian, or a vegan, con! sumes absolutely no animal products whatsoever, including dairy, eggs, and honey (though some vegans as I understand it do eat honey.) Some people still call themselves vegetarians though even if they eat only one meat such as fish or poultry. I personally think that you're only vegetarian if your food is animal flesh free, but it doesn't really matter to me. Call yourself whatever you want, only you know the truth of your decisions....Show more

Jefferson Sarson: soy cheese is probably closer to texture to regular cheese than beef

Roosevelt Pendill: Best Soy Cheese

Hal Palowoda: vegetarians don't eat meat. turkey is meat. therefore... i seriously doubt it.

Javier Holsonback: Not if you eat a Soy Turkey.

Leora Klingelhoets: Vegetable crispsStuffed vine leaves9bar Peanut (see link)Vegan mallows (see link)http://www.pinterest.com/alteredgirl/easy-vegan-sn......Show more

Jannette Kotz: Pssh I know oreos are unhealthy, but I deserve something! crappy, right? When i was an omnivore my main diet was crap, anyway. A! nd the italian bread... no healthy but oh so good!
