Valentine Michaud: I have canceled the extended warranty so its moot. In the meantime, the root of my questions is whether it is worth to negotiate with dealer on the price because after all, the engine is in pieces in the back of the car and there were really no repairs made.
Bob Pucella: Negotiating a fair price for car repairs is a win-win situation. You get lower prices and the mechanic gets return visits and recommendations. If your mechanic will not budge on their prices, go somewhere else. They can only repair what you give them permission to repair. Remember its your money, not theirs until the job is completed to satisfaction.Never attempt to negotiate after the repairs are completed. The mechanic can dig in their heals and refuse to give you your vehicle until the full price is paid. The best time to negotiate is before any work is done, this allows you the decision to go somewhere else to have the work completed....Show more
Aubrey Tirri: well first! you need to find out what is wrong with the engine to begin with. then you need to find out what is covered under the warranty. if it's a powertrain warranty, and the problem is an internal issue with the engine then it should be covered. and you should only have to pay only a certain amount. find out all the info and don't let them try and get one over on you. stand your ground and don't give in. you paid for that extanded warranty, make use of it. they sold you that warranty so make them pay for it, even if the warranty people don't pay for it....Show more
Herma Ellebrecht: and this is why you dont purchase extended warranties.as you know 12k is way to much for an engine. get a lawyer to call the warranty provider. meantime, pay and collect your parts or they will put a lien on it.
