Chastity Doderer: get yourself an 8 port router, and nics and cables for all the pc's
Donte Schoenhals: You will need either a wireless or standard router with 6 slots. The master slot on the router is where you will plug your cable modem. Hook the router up to the main computer with an ethernet cable and configure it. After that, you can either plug a wireless adapter into the remaining 4 computers or use ethernet cable. For a network that large, you might want to just use ethernet cables because they will be much faster than 4 or 5 computers on wireless. The router will split the info comming from the dsl/cable modem and send it to all the computers. You will need to configure a home network using either Microsoft Network Wizard or the software that comes with the router. Look forward to having at least a few problems because networking computers can be a pain. Each computer will have to have similar settings/protocols and it may be necessary to install ne! twork cards on each of the computers unless you use wireless which requires USB. This is by no means a comprehensive chcklist for creating a home network but it should get you headed in the right direction....Show more
