FINANCIAL AID COLLEGE?

Cortez Badolato: Did you complete and file the FAFSA on time? Did you correctly list all information that was required? Did you submit a FAFSA for the 2011-2012 academic year, sometime after Jan. 1, 2011?If so, reread the Student Aid Report generated by the FAFSA. What was your EFC: Expected Family Contribution? If it was less than 05000 or so, you should have been considered for at least a partial Pell grant. At a minimum your school would have offered you subsidized/unsubsidized Direct Stafford loans. Didn't you receive an award letter from your college along with an acceptance letter?Do this: first, forget what your "friends" say they receive in financial aid, or what they say their parents earn. That's usually BS (intentional or otherwise). Besides, there's nothing you can do about it anyway, so why obsess over it.Second, schedule an appointment with an officer at your school's financial aid office. Ask him/her to go over the FAFSA you submitted, and ask that they ! explain to you why you receive no financial aid. Good luck....Show more

Bruno Galasso: start looking for scholarship and grant programs outside of school too. Check with any organizations you have volunteered with, where your parents work and bank, as well as online. I use ScholarshipExperts.com (rated best by Forbes) and Collegeboard.org. Both are great!

Deangelo Marchak: Filing early is important. http://bellarminearc.wordpress.com/2011/01/10/file...There are many things besides salary that determines what aid you get like saviings and other assets: http://www.ecampustours.com/payingforcollege/finan...
